The contractor of Central
Intelligence Agency Edward Snowden, who disclosed few of the most closely
secured secrets of America, had travelled to India before 2011 but did not
report about the trip during his background-check process. The background checkers
failed to confirm Snowden's account of a previous security violation and his
work for the CIA, they did not carefully investigate an apparent trip to India
that he had failed to report, as reported by Wall Street Journal.
The 2011 regular background check
that the contractor of National Security Agency required to keep his security
clearance, the checkers did not obtain significant information from any person
who recognized him except his mother and girlfriend. The background
interviewers get to know from a work administrator that Snowden had travelled
to India, for which Snowden had not reported during the background-check
process but the last background report failed to analyze the intention of the
trip, as reported by the Journal. India was one of many nations approached by a
30years old Snowden for the purpose of asylum while he was trapped at the
Moscow airport. His request has been turned down by New Delhi.
One of a review report regarding
this issue has said that many aspects of the background check did not satisfy
the requirements of a 1997 document that has outlined federal standards for
background checks. The Executive of National Counterintelligence (Frank Montoya
Jr), who guided the review, has said the background check of 2011 by a private
contractor did not reflect a complete picture of Snowden, further said by
Journal.
The latest background check of
Snowden was so insufficient that a small number of people were interviewed and
prospective concerns were not taken into consideration. Snowden has contended
that he was acting out of conscience as he wanted to shine a light on an
inspection apparatus which he considers is out of control.
